REVIVING WELLS PSYCHOTHERAPY

Therapeutic Counselling Agreement

Welcome

Thank you for choosing to begin counselling with me. My intention is to offer a warm, safe, and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever feels important to you. This agreement outlines how I work, what you can expect from me, and the practical arrangements that support our work together.

My approach

I offer a person-centred counselling approach. This means:

During your first session, I may ask some additional questions to help me understand your situation and how best to support you.

Confidentiality

Everything you share in counselling is treated as confidential. There are a few exceptions where I may need to break confidentiality:

Where possible, I will always aim to discuss this with you first.

I attend regular professional supervision in line with BACP requirements. Your identity remains protected, and supervision is used solely to support safe, ethical practice.

Sessions

Sessions begin and end on time. If you arrive late, the session will still finish at the scheduled time.

Fees & payment

Payment is required in advance to confirm your booking. If payment is not received within the agreed timeframe, the session may not go ahead.

Cancellations made 48 hours or more before your session are eligible for a full refund.

Cancellations & missed sessions

Please give at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged in full. Missed sessions (non-attendance) are also charged in full.

If I need to cancel, I will give as much notice as possible and offer an alternative appointment where available.

Contact between sessions

You can contact me for practical matters such as arranging or changing appointments:

Email: rwpsychotherapy@outlook.com
Phone: 07818 224538

I may not be able to respond immediately, and I do not offer crisis support between sessions.

If you require urgent help, please contact your GP, NHS 111, the Northamptonshire Mental Health Number, or emergency services as appropriate. See urgent mental health support for telephone numbers and emergency guidance.

Online & telephone sessions

I use a secure video platform for online sessions. Please ensure you are in a private, comfortable space where you feel able to talk.

If technical difficulties occur, I will attempt to reconnect up to three times. If this is not possible, we will use an agreed alternative method such as telephone or email.

Ending counselling

Counselling may be short-term or long-term depending on your needs. Endings are ideally discussed within sessions so we can plan a supportive and thoughtful closing process. This may include:

If your needs fall outside my professional remit, I will support you in accessing alternative help through signposting.

Ethical practice

I am committed to working safely, ethically, and in your best interests. I follow the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework, attend regular supervision, and engage in ongoing professional development.

BACP Registered Member: MBACP 419858.

Complaints

If you have concerns about any aspect of the counselling service, you are encouraged to raise them with me so we can explore them together. Concerns can be shared verbally or in writing at any time.

If your concerns remain unresolved, you may make a formal complaint to the BACP through their Professional Conduct Procedure. See concerns and complaints for contact information.

By booking a session, you confirm that you have read and agree to the terms of this Therapeutic Counselling Agreement, including fees, confidentiality, and cancellation policies.

By continuing with counselling, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this agreement and have had the opportunity to ask any questions.
